June was indeed a fun and vibe-filled month. Other than the glorious events that happened, from Pink Dot to GastroBeats, it showed that live events are only going to multiply and get better. Don’t worry about missing out on the vibes because here’s what you can look forward to in July!
Forests FUN RAISER
Kickstarting the month off is a monumental celebration of 90s-influenced emo and math-pop perfection! Come 8 July, Forests will be lighting up the stage at Esplanade Concert Hall. And buckling up alongside them is four-piece friendship-core band Carpet Golf.
Dubbed as the “new heroes of the emo-math rock genre”, the trio has gained a massive global listenership since the release of their sophomore album ‘Spending Eternity In A Japanese Convenience Store’. Forests is also the only band from Asia that is on Vulture’s list of 100 Greatest Emo Songs of All Time.

Cactus Cactus EP Launch
Presented by Big Duck Music, psych rockers Cactus Cactus will be throwing a party to celebrate the launch of their debut EP ‘Shoutout Water’. Rocking alongside them on 10 July are special live band performances from deførmed, Curb, ABANGSAPAU and a special DJ set from Kane & Echino.

Everything Is Coming Up Roses
Singapore alt-rock/shoegaze band Coming Up Roses is releasing their sophomore EP ‘Everything Is’, and they’re presenting a vibrant show at the Esplanade Annexe Studio. The EP reflects and encapsulates the band’s exploration of themselves and the world around them. The music trio will be playing at a venue close to their hearts where they got their break as part of the Baybeats Budding Bands program.
In this spirited 75-minute set, audiences can expect tracks from their new EP and debut mini-album ‘Waters’, as well as unheard songs from their upcoming album. Buy your tickets at esplanade.com!
Sin City x HVT Entertainment
On 16 July, Sin City will grace Zouk yet again, this time with DJ Nash D, DJ Rattle and friends from HVT Entertainment. Get ready to party with the slickest, heart-pumping Hip-Hop beats with both old and new school tracks. You can expect hard hitters from Drake, Post Malone, Vince Staples, A$AP Ferg and Kendrick Lamar.

ÆTHER: Session Four
Highly anticipated, ÆTHER’s atmospheric experiences are back for its fourth instalment! This time round with ‘experimental screamo’ unit tiny hoarse, post-rock veterans Paint The Sky Red, math-rock mavericks Approaching Aphelion and indie, noise-rock virtuosos subsonic eye.
Comfy beanbags, ambient lighting and eclectic, homegrown music. Just what you need to create intimate occasions that are unlike any other live gig series. As Life In Arpeggio says, “the substance of a space is just as significant as the entertainment it houses”. Definitely so. Well, pre-sale tickets are sold out but door tickets will be available at $18 so go early to get your spot!
Paul Van Dyk – Off The Record
A fan of Electric tracks or international DJ Paul Van Dyk? You’ll want to be there for this. This Grammy-nominated music producer is the first ever DJ to be named number one by Mixmag, and he’s back in the Lion City since his pumping show in June 2020.
If you haven’t copped your tickets (online sales are sold out, by the way), there’s still a chance to dance the night away! Tickets will be available at the door based on the club’s capacity.
Offtrack B-Side
In the second half of July, music-centric bar and restaurant Offtrack is kicking it off with a selection of local and international guests! From Bongomann to Daryl Knows and 6AM AT THE GARAGE, this newly opened hotspot will be dishing out hearty Pan-Asian food, classic cocktails, cosy spaces and lively music.
Conceptualised by co-founders of local music collectives Darker Than Wax and Ice Cream Sundays, patrons can expect sounds from DJs and record collectors that aren’t usually found in traditional clubs or F&B settings.

RHT Rajan Menon Foundation X Gentle Bones Charity Concert
After five long years, local gem Gentle Bones returns to the stage and for a great cause — in partnership with RHT Rajan Menon Foundation Ltd, the corporate social responsibility vehicle of RHTLaw Asia LLP and the RHT Group of Companies (collectively, ONERHT). Proceeds from the charity concert will help support the well-being of those who struggled the most during the pandemic, namely underprivileged families, seniors, people with disabilities and their caregivers.

CHAIDURA Live in Singapore “THE END”
Made for listeners of J-rock, Metalcore, Visual Kei, Loud Rock, Hard Rock, Pop Rock and Post Hardcore. On 24 July, up-and-coming Alt Rock artist Chaidura will be performing his first ever show with Aarcade, Terrestrea and Thomas The Death Train sharing the stage.
Inspired by bands like Gazette, Dir En Grey and Bring Me the Horizon, Chaidura presents an innate ability to blend multiple styles consistently from Rap to Goth, Electronic Music and Alternative Rock. This homegrown standout released three unique tracks in 2020 and two more this year, proving that the newer generations are surely making a mark in the industry.

IGNITE! Music Festival
IGNITE! is back for its 15th edition with an exhilarating line-up. This student-driven music festival is all about showcasing great local music and the capabilities of its Republic Polytechnic students.
This year, we can expect a wide variety of genres with both rising and established musicians: Feez., LAYYI, Cadence, Space Walk, Daniel Sid, Marian Carmel, Rangga Jones, Bakers in Space, Tell Lie Vision, Saints Amongst Sinners, The New Modern Lights, M1LDL1FE and Shigga Shay.
