In recent music news, in the form of track releases, Singaporean artists Dru Chen and Wovensound have joined forces with rapper ihasamic! to deliver an upbeat, groovy pop anthem.
Aptly named, the new R&B/Pop track ‘Gather Round‘ emanates the importance of connection and community, and the role that music can play in bringing people together.
Even the creation of this single is a symbolic call to what the lyrics are…need we say more?

Fresh off the release of his latest album ‘Slower Life‘, Dru shared, “Wovensound is a visionary, and an inspiration to work with. His ability to jump from hip-hop to electronic to rock and everything in between never fails to amaze me.”.
Filled with soulful vocals on a catchy beat, this track is bound to get you moving and dancing! Blending elements of R&B and Pop, this fresh and dynamic song appeals to fans of both genres.
Dru added on, “When he reached out to me to write, we immediately jumped on a funky R&B vibe, taking turns writing hooks and melodies until we came up with ‘Gather Round’. It’s probably one of the most optimistic lyrics I’ve ever written!”
And in a week from now, on 1 September, an alternative acoustic
version of ‘Gather Round‘ will be released as a music video; offering a fresh revisit of the track with stripped-down instrumentals and different vocal performances.
“The cherry on top was having Ihasamic! onboard. Ihasamic! not only provided a most soulful and cheeky rap verse but also directed the highly spirited performance music video,” said Dru.
‘Gather Round’ is now available on all music streaming platforms.

About Wovensound aka Vinod Dass
Featured in NME Magazineand Straits Times, Wovensound is a producer, musician, and educator with a Degree in Audio Engineering and Music Production from JMC Academy in Melbourne.
His works include sound design work in Film Festivals around the world (Melbourne, Iran, Mexico, and New York) and music production work that were featured locally and abroad.
Wovensound’s passion for the live stage has also brought him to Brisbane, Australia to play at the Dead of Winter Festival (2019) and to open for multi-award-winner Hariharan when he came to Singapore in 2019. Most recently, he was part of the lineup for Singapore’s biggest local festival Baybeats in 2021, Singapore Grand Prix Formula 1 Night Race in 2022, and Esplanade’s Soul Jam in 2023.
He continues his passions by helping brands with audio solutions while expanding his work in the creative domain.

A lecturer, music producer, and singer-songwriter, Dru Chen has recorded, produced, and composed for the likes of Citibank, Warner, League of Legends, and Universal Music Publishing.
As an artiste, he has shared the stage with D’Angelo, Babyface, Gentle Bones, and Charlie Lim at the Singapore International Jazz Festival, Mosaic Music Festival, and Soulfest among others.
His latest album ‘Slower Life‘ garnered well over one million streams on Spotify and was featured on NME Asia, Men’s Folio, Bandwagon, The Straits Times, CNA, and TEDx. He is currently a lecturer in the School of Technology for the Arts at Republic Polytechnic.
