The first Singaporean musician to partner with a mobile gaming company on an original single, Axel Brizzy releases ‘SAVAGE’.
Back in December 2021, Singaporean Hip-Hop artiste Axel Brizzy teamed up with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) for his single ‘SAVAGE’. A game-changing crossover with a mobile game heavyweight and in the local music scene.
The electro-rap track served as the theme song for the regional MLBB KOL Carnival — a tournament that saw influencers, from Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, battle it out for the championship title. MLBB KOL Carnival took place from 24 December 2021 to 2 January 2022 and was on Livestream on YouTube, Facebook and TikTok channels of both MLBB and the Mobile Premier League.
Produced by Faiz Shamir and with visuals and single artwork by ihasamic!, ‘SAVAGE’ cites influences from hits like virtual brand True Damage’s ‘GIANTS’ and ‘Purple Lamborghini’ by Skrillex and Rick Ross. Made to embody the raw, unbridled passion of the eSports community, the song includes heavy Trap and Dubstep elements. Additionally, the track’s lyrics feature voice lines of iconic heroes and motifs of the game, namely X.Borg and Martis.
As the first Singaporean artiste to collaborate with a mobile gaming company on an original single, Axel Brizzy shared how honoured and thankful he was for the opportunity. In speaking about the single and partnering up with a powerhouse in the realm of mobile gaming, he stated: “Almost everyone I know plays MLBB, even before this opportunity came knocking, which makes this partnership extra special to me.”
“I hope that the listeners, especially the fans of MLBB, will enjoy this anthem and, hopefully, this can spark more collaborations between the E-Sports world and the Singapore music scene,” added Axel Brizzy.
